The comprehensive digitalisation and modernisation of production is one of the major tasks for the coming years. To ensure competitiveness, a number of key technologies from 5G and machine learning to cloud-based applications must be profitably integrated into production processes. However, their true potential only unfolds in interaction. The overarching goal is intelligent system solutions to make production more transparent and efficient. The future of production is smart! However, this is precisely where many companies face major challenges, because building up the necessary competences internally takes time, is resource-intensive and is also not an easy task in view of the shortage of skilled workers. With a strong network of over 600 partners from business, science and administration, the Smart Systems Hub combines competences from the areas of software, hardware and connectivity to accelerate innovation processes and develop individual solutions. The magic word is co-innovation. Agile teams combine expertise from all relevant areas across the company. From ideation and fast prototyping to implementation in the production environment, the Smart Systems Hub Innovation Centre accompanies the entire development process and guarantees an efficient innovation process with its innovation expertise and methodology. One example is the "Heimdall" project, in which a predictive maintenance solution for OHVs in semiconductor production was developed in collaboration with DELTEC electronics, T-Systems MMS, ZEISS Digital Innovation and GlobalFoundries and is now being implemented in the GlobalFoundries production environment.
