Delfa Systems GmbH
About us
Delfa Systems GmbH, founded in 2022 as a spin-off of Saarland University, develops intelligent multiparameter sensor and actuator systems based on electroactive polymers (EAP). The technology enables the precise detection of multiple parameters such as strain, position, rotation, or pressure—particularly in applications where conventional sensing technologies reach their limits. Flexible, robust, and highly sensitive.
With the Delfa platform technology, systems are created that not only measure but also interpret: shape-flexible, highly integrable, and adaptable to a wide range of industries and environments—from infrastructure monitoring (Structural Health Monitoring, SHM) and industrial processes to robotics, medical technology, and wearables.
From feasibility analysis and development through to series production, Delfa Systems supports its customers with tailored solutions. By combining materials science, engineering expertise, and innovative manufacturing technologies, Delfa Systems delivers reliable solutions for precise monitoring and adaptive, intelligent systems.

Delfa AxIIIs - Miniature 3-axis force/torque sensor
The Delfa AxIIIs is an ultra-compact 3-axis force/torque sensor for integration into small and medium-sized robot systems. The sensor element is based on a novel dielectric elastomer and enables precise force measurements in the z-direction as well as the detection of torques around the x- and y-axes. This allows for high-resolution detection of forces and tilts directly at the end effector. With dimensions of only 49 × 20 mm, the sensor is ideal for space-constrained integrations. I²C and UART interfaces are available immediately, with an RS485 interface to follow. The sensor offers a cost-effective entry into tactile robotics sensing and is designed for both research and development as well as industrial automation applications.

Sensor Experience Kit
The Sensor Experience Kit enables users to test dielectric elastomer technology in a controlled environment.

Delfa Flex System
The base of all our products is the knowhow on designing and manufacturing flexible electronics based on polymer substrates. These can be widely used as flexible and stretchable circuit boards, sensor elements, actuators or anything else you can imagine. The ability to form multilayered, polymer-based circuits enables you to build electric active structures with extraordinary features.

Delfa Load System - Force
This robust and cost-competitive sensor enables force measurement across different applications. Being made of rubber, it tolerates shear forces without damage. It can also be used to measure movements in the range of micrometers. The sensor is equipped with an in-built adaptable electronic that provides standard analog output as well as digital communication IOs. The digital IOs e.g. enable the adjustment of measurement range and alarm criteria – on-the-fly and without any need for mechanical adjustment.

Delfa Load Systeme - Tactile
The rubbery structure allows it to be attached to any surface, regardless of its shape (straight, curved, irregular). The softness of the sensor makes it ideal for contact with any object that needs to be gripped and where the contact force needs to be measured. Understanding the gripping force makes the process faster and more reliable and prevents damage to sensitive parts. It is equipped with a versatile electronic that provides analog output as well as digital communication and IOs.

Delfa Stretch Systems
This robust and cost-competitive sensor enables position or displacement measurement across different applications. Being made of rubber, it tolerates installation misalignments while compensating for any measurement error due to misalignment hence making it ideal for retrofitting with a simple mounting process. The sensor is equipped with an in-built adaptable electronic that provides standard analog output as well as digital communication IOs. The digital IOs e.g. enable the adjustment of measurement range and alarm criteria – on-the-fly and without any need for mechanical adjustment.
