Pepperl+Fuchs – Innovations for the Future of Automation
As one of the leading companies in the automation industry, Pepperl+Fuchs is a global pioneer in its markets due to groundbreaking technologies. For conventional and future applications, the company offers a comprehensive portfolio and at the same time drives trend-setting future developments. Examples of this include application-oriented cloud connectivity solutions and the development of Ethernet in the process industry for Industry 4.0-compliant applications.
At Pepperl+Fuchs, the term Sensorik4.0® stands for innovative, communication-enabled sensors for factory automation. This development has proven useful in many aspects of automation. A prime example is the intelligent communication technology that clears the way for the link between IT and OT. Another application is the portfolio of intrinsically safe smart devices that enable the digitization of service and maintenance in process plants. Other future technologies will likewise be used in almost all branches of automation.

Precise 3-D Measurements with the SmartRunner Measurer 3-D
The SmartRunner Measurer 3-D sets new standards in industrial 3-D measurement technology. Thanks to integrated stereo vision, the sensor calculates volume, dimensions, rotation, and position directly—without the need for external image processing. Even at object speeds of up to 2.5 m/s, it delivers precise measurement results and impresses with high accuracy, easy setup, and versatile application options.

Reliable Object Detection—Regardless of Shape or Size
The R305 retroreflective area sensor from Pepperl+Fuchs reliably detects irregularly shaped objects from a height of just 2 mm. Due to individual settings, a light bandwidth of 60 mm, and a detection range of up to 4 m, it offers maximum flexibility for various applications. Discover the new retroreflective area sensor, which also features integrated height measurement and an IO-Link interface, providing significant advantages over conventional retroreflective sensors.

Ethernet IO Modules with IO-Link Master
The new Ethernet IO modules from Pepperl+Fuchs support all common Ethernet protocols, such as PROFINET, EtherNet/IP and EtherCAT. The L-encoded M12 plug, compliant with the power-connection concept newly defined by the PNO, supplies the connected units with currents of up to 16 A with no additional installation needs. The modules can be used independently of the control panel and permit autonomous applications. They clear the way for distributed signal transfer within the meaning of Industrie 4.0. The multiprotocol feature permits standardization in the machine where different module types were previously required. Change between protocols by simply using a rotary selector switch. The IP address for EtherNet/IP can also be directly set. The integrated web server allows for complete parameterization in addition to addressing, as well as the retrieval of status and diagnostic information via PC. The new power concept with an L-encoded M12 plug-in connector provides a power supply of up to 16 A and can therefore also cover peak loads. This reduces parallel wiring and supply adjustments by up to 40 percent. The robust, fully cast metal housing has an IP65/67 degree of protection and is very compact at only 200 mm long and 18 mm high. Simple programming is sufficient for the modules to perform distributed functions and to take the load off the central control panel. Complexity of communication and response times are reduced and a central overview is maintained. The distributed logic can be limited to some of the IOs, while the others continue under the central control panel. This permits an interaction between the control panel and the distributed process program. The integrated isochronous real time (IRT) switch supports the MRP ring topologies for PROFINET and DLR for EtherNet/IP. Ethernet IO modules support multiple protocols and provide currents of 16 A via the M12 connection.

Inductive Distance Sensors with IO-Link
Pepperl+Fuchs presents inductive distance sensors with IO-Link and integrated condition monitoring functions. For the first time, they not only measure the object position but also velocity and acceleration of damping elements. They monitor critical processes such as braking, acceleration, and opening or closing processes, making them ideal for predictive maintenance. Inductive safety sensors SIL 2/PL d
The newly developed inductive safety sensors are certified to SIL 2/PL d. The portfolio comes with various cylindrical and cubic sensors, offering impressive features: With the standardized OSSD interface and comprehensive safety documentation, Pepperl+Fuchs makes the integration of safety sensors as easy as possible. For detection, users can simply use standard metal targets, no special coding is required. Thanks to its intelligent electronics, the sensors do not have a dead band and are particularly easy to install without the need for adjustments. High safety values facilitate integration into the safety loop and require much rarer test intervals.

USi-safety®
The USi-safety ultrasonic sensor system enables safe application in accordance with category 3 PL d with just one ultrasonic sensor. Either one or two decoupled ultrasonic sensor units can be connected to the control interface, and each unit has a miniature design to enable installation in very confined spaces. The ultrasonic sensor system has a distinctly elliptical, three-dimensional sound field with opening angles of ± 17° and ± 5° to ensure optimal protection. Comprehensive parameterization software and documentation make commissioning quick and simple for users. The high level of resistance to dirt, temperature, air currents, and humidity, combined with the rugged miniature housing, makes the system suitable for use in areas that were previously considered too dangerous, such as in the fork arms of an auto-guided forklift.
