The Company GEORG SCHLEGEL received the renowned Focus Award in silver from the Design Center Baden-Württemberg for the new MK contact block. "We are very happy about this award. The award further proves that we at SCHLEGEL always think about good design, even for product developments that are not so conspicuous," says Christoph Schlegel. The award is also valuable because the Design Center Baden-Württemberg is an independent institution and has no commercial intentions. The design quality is an important characteristic for a design award – but it is certainly not the only one. The independent jurors also pay attention to the functionality, the level of innovation, ergonomics and utility. The MK also convinces in these categories: lower, smaller, more modular – these are the characteristics of the MK. With the MK we succeeded in developing an extremely compact and powerful contact block, having a straight-lined aesthetics. Thanks to the well thought-out structure, the MK has a mounting depth of only 17.6 mm. The distinct colourings of the NO, NC and LED module facilitate the handling. The contact blocks can be combined and mounted in the module holder as required. In the SCHLEGEL world, the MK is versatile and fits all SCHLEGEL pushbuttons and switches of all the ranges with a 22 mm housing neck.

Ganter is expanding its portfolio with a completely new product family: a thoroughly designed selection of various casters and wheels. Ganter’s standard parts selection is growing once again – with the recent addition of an entirely new category for wheels and casters. The establishment of the new catalog group 3.10 is a clear indication that these mobility-enabling standard parts will have all the room they need. That is only logical given that the wheels and casters serve to complement their proven but static leveling feet relatives, which are available in many different versions. As always, Ganter is entirely focused on practical requirements: the individual types are organized according to the applicable ISO testing procedures, making it easy to associate them with the most important configuration parameters. For example, the new range includes light duty casters with low load capacity, medium duty casters for industrial use and heavy duty casters designed for high dynamic loads coupled with higher travel speeds. Casters are ready-to-install parts consisting of a wheel and a bracket, with the latter generally made of bent sheet steel, except for the heavy duty versions of welded steel. The bracket, available in swivel or fixed versions, holds the wheel and serves for mounting the caster. Fixed casters provide lateral guidance to ensure stable travel both straight and on curves. The swivel brackets with ball bearings enable maximum maneuverability with 360-degree rotation and movement in any direction, a property that is particularly advantageous in tight spaces. Optionally integrated total lock brakes prevent the wheel from turning or rotating in the steering axis, and variants are also available with extendable leveling feet for an even more secure stand. The KA switch combines the advantages and functions of the already established KG and KH switch family in a new product series. The compact main and repair switch was specially developed for machine tools, distribution and control cabinets as well as all areas where high reliability is required in the application. The large connection space enables the connection of different cable cross-sections with finger-safe IP 20 terminals. The KA series is currently available with screw connection, products from the series with ring cable connection will be available soon. Through the approval according to international standards of our products and our global service network, we are the first point of contact for control- and switch disconnectors worldwide.

Design details fulfill specific requirements The Neugart NDF gearbox meets these special requirements with numerous technical details: For example, the gearbox enables extremely fast changes of direction thanks to a low-inertia clamping system at the input stage, which improves the dynamics and thus the cycle time of the robot. At the same time, the torsional backlash is limited to <1 arcmin as a standard feature. The gearbox with the frame size 090 operates with three specially designed planetary gears in the input stage and four in the output stage. This significantly increases the torsional stiffness and the transmittable torque. Four two-stage transmission ratios, each between i=22 and i=55, are available. The output of the NDF has also received special attention in order to optimally meet the specific requirements of a Delta robot: The gear ratio at the output is i=5.5, which allows transmission of very high torques. The flanged output shaft with torque interface has 12 threaded holes (M8 instead of the usual M6), the output flange has 16 holes (instead of the standard eight for each). The gearbox output shaft only rotates back and forth through a limited angle in Delta robots because of their design, making lubrication more difficult. An optimized radial shaft sealing ring in the NDF ensures optimum sealing of the shaft during rapid changes of direction. A food-grade oil lubrication system is available as an option for the NDF. As an additional option, the NDF can be equipped with a stainless steel output shaft and a nickel-plated output flange. These options increase the corrosion resistance of the gearbox. As a result, it also tolerates frequent cleaning with aggressive media, which is essential in the food and pharmaceutical industries.

Anyone who uses planetary gearboxes from Neugart can now access relevant digital product information even more easily: A new online service links the physical product directly to the documents and digital functions available for it. The link between the physical gearbox and the digital world is established via a data matrix code (DMC), a 2D code on the gearbox nameplate. This can be scanned via smartphone or tablet, for example. Alternatively, access is possible via a web portal on the Neugart homepage (www.neugart.com). This identification, which is as smart as it is reliable, leads immediately and around the clock to the relevant product information and other functions. The user then receives, for example, a clear list of all the versions of the gearbox in question or can download the appropriate operating and mounting instructions. If customers require a technical adjustment or wish to submit a complaint, they can contact Neugart customer service directly via the connected service request. Furthermore, if a Neugart gearbox shows signs of wear after years of use, an identical replacement gearbox (including express delivery) can be requested conveniently and with just a few clicks via the online service. Currently, Neugart is converting the newly produced gearboxes to a new nameplate layout with integrated DMC. The online service is starting with the essential functions in the after-sales area and will be successively expanded. For instance, in addition to further product-specific information and documents, new functions are also planned.
