O-ring assembly with inline inspection

Fitting O-rings, screwing and inspecting on one compact rotary indexing table – fully automated, for medical components.

For the automated assembly of a medical component, we built a customer-specific rotary indexing table system that combines feeding, singulation, O-ring assembly, screwing, inline inspection and good/reject sorting in one compact process. The system is designed for two variable assemblies and runs in fully automated series production.

The challenge: elastic, position-critical components must be handled reliably, and all ten stations must be precisely tuned to a high output rate. O-ring assembly in particular depends on controlled expansion, secure transfer and reproducible positioning. Our process concept handles the sensitive parts stably even at high cycle rates; further steps such as placing and screwing an additional component are integrated directly.

Quality inspection runs within the process: camera technology, presence checks and displacement measurement monitor features and assembly steps, defective parts are rejected automatically, and measured values are available for evaluation. This increases process stability and reduces manual intervention.

Result: cycle time 1.7 seconds, technical availability above 99%.
