Valve assembly and functional testing

Small-parts assembly of medical valve units with integrated leak and flow testing – combined in a single system.

For the fully automated assembly of a medical valve unit, we built a customer-specific assembly and test system that combines several assembly and test operations in one continuous process. The system processes multiple small components precisely: balls, springs and other functional parts are fed automatically, handled in the correct position and integrated into the assembly reproducibly. Joining is force- and displacement-monitored.

A core element is the integrated functional test: after assembly, every unit is tested for leak tightness and flow. To reliably achieve the required cycle time, several test stations are integrated into the system concept. This detects not only geometric or assembly-related faults but also evaluates function-critical properties immediately after assembly. It reduces the risk of faulty further processing and ensures reproducible quality.

Result: cycle time 3.2 seconds, technical availability at least 95%, stable assembly sequences in series production.
